Bird veterinarian

Veterinario oscultando a un loro

The need to attend a veterinarian specializing in birds arises on two occasions.

The first, when you have just acquired a bird, to carry out a routine check-up, deworm, discuss contagious diseases (such as psittacosis, avian circovirus, bornavirus, etc.) and take appropriate preventive measures. Likewise, in addition to health control, at the Nido clinic, we resolve all your doubts regarding management: which cage is the most appropriate? What diet should you take? How do you wean a baby chick? Is it advisable to cut the flight? How often does a bird molt its feathers?

Health checks on birds are recommended every 6 months throughout their lives, being more important when they are juvenile or geriatric birds, since these are the periods in which there may be the greatest risks to their health.

Birds are characterized by being animals that do not show signs of disease until they reach very advanced or even irreversible states. This situation occurs as these are individuals that are normally preyed upon in nature, so any manifestation of weakness could place them in a position of easy prey. Hence the importance of being able to receive good veterinary advice on avian medicine, since it is not always easy to correctly identify and cure their diseases. At the Nido veterinary clinic, we are specialists in all types of birds and we have diagnostic services (in-house laboratory, radiology, our own operating room, etc.) and hospitalization services adapted to the needs of all birds. We take care of all types of birds, from psittacidae (parrots), small passerines (canaries, isabelites, etc.), chickens, pigeons, birds of prey, etc.
